The Red Cedar Inn houses an interactive museum that collects, preserves, and presents an impressive collection of artifacts, photographs, and testimonies from the Meramec River Valley. The museum is comprised of four unique exhibits that the history of Route 66, the City of Pacific, Missouri, the Red Cedar Inn itself, and a fourth rotating exhibit that changes every year.
Current exhibit: When the Town Burned: The Civil War Through a Local Lens
Our exhibit will feature a collection of unique artifacts that pertain to not just the Civil War, but specifically to Missouri’s role. Experience the daily lives of the many men and women who fought in the bloodiest war on American soil by viewing our collection of personal items. Interested in learning more about the war itself? Our exhibit incorporates a hands-on, digital interactive that guests can explore for information on key figures, vital battles, and the mythology that arose after the conflict. This is the first time our annually rotating exhibit will be switched out; “When the Town Burned” will run from June 1st, 2024, till May 30th, 2025.Currently, the rotating exhibit features a collection of local artifacts pertaining to the railroads. These items, along with a plethora of recorded history, showcase the important role that numerous railroad companies have played in the City of Pacific. Stop by and see the display before it changes over on June 1st to “A History of the Civil War in Pacific: The Raid that Changed the Town.” Featured within the museum is a gift shop stocked with items for every personality, including locally sourced products such as soaps, honey, and dog treats.
