RED CEDAR INN

THE MUSEUM

History Through a Local Lens

The Red Cedar Inn houses an interactive museum that collects, preserves, and presents an impressive collection of artifacts, photographs, and testimonies from the Meramec River Valley. The museum is comprised of four unique exhibits that display the history of Route 66, the City of Pacific, Missouri, the Red Cedar Inn itself, and a fourth rotating exhibit that changes every year.

Current exhibit: When the Town Burned: The Civil War Through a Local Lens

Our exhibit features a collection of unique artifacts that pertain to not just the Civil War, but specifically to Missouri’s role in it. Experience the daily lives of the many men and women who fought in the bloodiest war on American soil by viewing our collection of personal items. Interested in learning more about the war itself? Our exhibit incorporates a hands-on, digital interactive that guests can explore for information on key figures, vital battles, and the mythology that arose after the conflict. “When the Town Burned” will run from June 1st, 2024, till May 30th, 2025.

Have something that pertains to the history of the Meramec Valley and wish to loan or donate it to the museum? Email their Curator of Exhibits, Ryan Lowry, at rlowry@pacificmissouri.com to schedule an appointment to see if your item(s) would benefit the collection.
